Phonics / Spelling/ Grammar
Spend 5 minutes practising a few of your spellings.
Year 1 - Listen to the daily phonics lesson on Letters and Sounds for home and school.
Year 2 - Today we are going to think about verbs and adverbs. Look at the worksheet attached (mild or hot) to remind yourselves of the difference between verbs abd adverbs. You can write your sentences in your book.
English
Watch the powerpoint to remind you about the purpose of instructions and what we need to include when writing them.
Year 1 - Look at the pictures of planting a seed. What do you think the instruction would be for each picture? Draw the pictures in your book in the correct order and write the matching instruction. Remember to start with a bossy verb! If you have a printer you may prefer to print out the pictures.
Year 2 - Look at the template for writing instructions. Following the same layout can you write a set of instructions for making a sandwich? If you have another idea for writing instructions you may use this. The main thing is to remember to write your instructions in the present tense and using imperative (bossy) verbs!
Maths
Spend 5 to 10 minutes playing a game of your choice on either the Daily ten or Mental Maths Train
Year 1 - Whiterose Maths Year 1 Lesson 3 - Add together and find a part
Year 2 - Whiterose Maths Year 2 Lesson 3 - Related facts

Today we are going to think about edible plants. We eat plants, including fruit and vegetables, in order to gain the nutrients our bodies require.
Foods that we eat that are the root of the plant include; beetroot, onion, carrot, potato, turnip, radish and parsnip. Foods that we eat that are the stem of the plant include; asparagus, celery, rhubarb, and leeks. Some foods we eat are actually the flower of the plant, for example cauliflower and broccoli. We eat many leaves from plants including; lettuce, cabbage, spinach, kale and watercress.
Look at the table in the attachments. Copy the same headings into your book and see if you can think of 5 different plants we eat. Can you choose one for each part: root, stem, flower and leaves? Remember NOT all plants are edible and some are dangerous to eat.
