Learning tasks for Thursday....

Remember Friday is a bank holiday, so I won't be uploading any learning tasks...celebrate VE Day (and the sunshine!)

Spellings:

Use slide 6 of the powerpoint below to practice words containing the sure/ture suffixes. Remember, don’t do them all in one go- 10 is plenty.

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Research continued….

Today, you will need to make sure you have all the information you need to write a biography about Charles Darwin.

Remember, you will need basic information (when and where he was born, early life, what he is most famous for  IN DETAIL,  and when he died).

You will need to include some information about his family life, but the majority of your information should be focused on what Charles Darwin is famous for, and going into detail. Things that should definitely be mentioned:

  • Galapagos islands
  • HMS Beagle
  • Finches: what exactly did he observe?
  • Natural selection
  • Origin of species
  • Evolution (obviously!!!)

Was his theory popular when he published it?

Monday’s task will be planning and writing the biography.

Remember…you may need to find a common denominator if the fractions have different denominators.

History/Art: VE day

Tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of VE day. Today, can you create something to decorate your home to commemorate this significant day. It will need to be relevant to world war 2, but get creative. Possible ideas:

  • Bunting. Keep it patriotic e.g. bunting of union flags
  • Union flags. Create some union flags to wave as part of the celebration
  • Picture. It could depict a war time scene e.g. soldiers in battle, spitfires soaring across the sky, troops returning home, Winston Churchill…..You decide.
  • Create some spitfires to create your own fly past at home. (You may wish to use the template below)
  • Something completely different...as long as it is relevant to VE Day...let your creativity run wild!

Daily Act of Worship/reflection
