Spellings:
Rule 23: ‘cial’ or ‘tial’ suffixes
Use the powerpoint to explore when to use the suffixes ‘cial’ and ‘tial’ for words ending in the ‘shul’ sound. Can you explain the rule to your parents?
Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.
English: Story writing: using fronted adverbials
This week, you will be asked to plan and write a story. The work that we will be doing over the next few days is going to prepare you for your big write. The setting and character you created last week will be used in the story you write this week. You will also be expected to include some subordinating conjunctions, semi-colons, and fronted adverbials in your story, so pay attention! If you need any help, please message me 😊
Click on the link below to take you to the BBC bitesize page to learn about how to use fronted adverbials and vary the start of your sentences. Complete the quiz (activity 1 ), then complete activity 2. This activity involves using ISPACE to vary the start of your sentences. (You have ALL used this in school many times before!) You will need to complete at least one sentence for each…e.g. one sentence starting with a verb ending in ‘ing’ (I), one sentence starting with a simile (S), one sentence starting with a preposition (P), one sentence starting with an adverb (A), one sentence starting with a conjunction (C) and one sentence staring with a verb ending in ‘ed’ (E). Watch out for use of commas!
Also, please complete the “Super Challenge” either looking at your character or setting description and re-writing some sentences using ISPACE to vary the start of your sentences. (These can be used in your actual story, so will save you time later in the week).

Science: Circulatory system
Use the powerpoint (Functions of the Circulatory system presentation) below to learn more about the circulatory system, this week focusing on the functions of the heart, lungs and blood vessels. Use the PDF “Functions of the Circulatory System” to learn abot the heart, lungs and blood vessels in more depth. Then design a quiz based upon what you have learned today. This could be a handwritten/word processed set of questions (with answers on a separate page) or you may wish to use the powerpoint below (WWTBAM) to create your own “Who wants to be a millionaire” quiz about the circulatory system. If you would like to test your friends, upload your quiz to dojo, let me know who you would like to challenge, and I will share it with them.
